No traffic means no conversions, which ultimately mean no website monetization via ether pay per click, affiliate sales or sales of your own product/service. You need these actions to get paid for the work you have done, therefore you need traffic to accomplish it.
Your task as an online business owner is to be able to generate the traffic, figure out the secret to traffic and focus on it. Its not an easy mission. It still better though than trying to drive traffic to your website with any other method. I would say that ppc traffic is the quickest and easiest to get. There is one problem though. PPC traffic is expensive. And if you have no traffic on your site yet then you dont have any income streams from the site and your budget is probably limited, to say the least.
So what other methods can you use to increase website traffic? Lets look at organic search traffic. Yes, its not that easy to get, but its not impossible. Here are just a few methods you could use to boost your position in search engines: press releases, article submissions, blogs, social networks, seo, guest posts, link exchanges, etc. The added benefit is that many of those methods can not only help you with search engine positioning, but they can drive a lot of traffic on their own.
The first thing for you to determine is whether search engines are aware at all of your existence. In other words, is your website indexed by search engines? You might be surprised by the answer. Of course, if youre not indexed then your site is not going to show up in search results for any keyword at all. So you will have to get your site indexed first (we will discuss later how to do this quickly).
A thing to notice: if you dont see your site when you type in the keyword you wish to rank for, it doesnt mean youre not indexed. It just means youre not ranking well for that particular keyword. But your site can still be found (theoretically) on the one of the thousands of search results pages for that keyword. Of course, no one is going to look for you there, so your site is as good as dead. But if its indexed, at least search engines are aware of its existence. And now you can start working on improving your rankings.

For example, if your domain name is www.instantfreetraffic.com then you type " site:instantfreetraffic.com. If you receive a message that no results found or alike response, it clearly indicates that your website is not indexed.
